Chooda - The Most Appealing Feature in a Punjabi Bride

Punjabi Wedding
Weddings in Punjab are known to be celebrated with great pride and enthusiasm. From the very starting of life, wearing a chooda is the fantasy of every Punjabi girl. There is a separate charm and a glamour that a Punjabi bride carries along with her chooda. Bride is the most attractive part of the wedding and being it a Punjabi Matrimonial, bride steals all the attention. The whole attire of the bride is very pretty, which adds to her beauty. There are many options for a Punjabi bride to wear on her wedding day. Salwar- suits, saree, lehenga, are few of the outfits, which the bride can wear.

Wedding chooda is available in various patterns, other than the traditional one, which are maroon and white. The combinations of ceramic white and maroon bangles are usually made of ivory. These days, many plastic set of bangles are also used for wearing, due to the high cost of ivory bangles. These bangles differ in price, depending on the material used for making bangles. The count in the bangles set for Punjabi bride can differ from 21 to 31 to 51 bangles. The count depends on the choice of the bride, how much she can carry easily. Other option like engraving the name of the husband is also done by many brides these days.

Now-a-days, not only Punjabi matrimonies witness choodas, it has become a fashion in the brides. Wearing a chooda is a style statement among married women; they love to show it off. Also, it looks amazing and is the best accessory in her wedding attire. The grace and the glamour added by the chooda is all the more thrilling and cheerful, than any other jewellery. No doubt, it is the most appealing and attractive ornament worn by a Punjabi bride, which makes her look doubly beautiful and gorgeous.

Some Essentials of a Christian Marriage

Christian wedding
A wedding is all about following religious beliefs. A Christian marriage is one of the most traditional versions of a wedding, which includes certain requirements to be met.
  • As a requirement of the religious belief, it is necessary that both bride and groom are baptized or else be baptized before conducting the wedding. This as a sign of acceptance of Christ in their lives.
  • Bride and groom need to attend the prenuptial lectures, meetings or talks, where the couple is taught the conditions of married life. The couple needs to understand the value of sacred bond joining both of them. These lectures suggest the enunciation of the rights and duties in the marriage institution.
  • If any of the spouses is non-Christian, then he/she needs to learn the basics of Christianity and beliefs of Christianity, along with the detailing of the wedding celebrations and married life.
Let me discuss the steps formalizing a Christian marriage, it’s just a brief!
  • The presence of the family members, close relatives and friends is must.
  • A processional is an important part of a Christian matrimonial, as it introduces the bride and the groom with the wedding ceremony and other rituals.
  • Following the processional, a prayer is performed by a priest.
  • Couple exchanges wedding vows.
  • Wedding is formalized with the exchange of the wedding rings.
  • The Unity Candle is lit by the couple together before their wedding ceremony has finished. This is a symbolic representation showing the unity of the couple as they start their journey together.
  • The wedding is formally concluded with a final prayer to bless the new couple.
However, these were the traditional ethos's which are being followed since ages, what I found the best about Christian weddings is that the families and couples involved in the wedding have the option to change the vows according to their preferences.

Brahmin Society Is No More Conservative Now

I thought that Brahmin were the most conservative communities in India, but the misconception got changed, when I attended marriage of one of my Brahmin friend. It was an inter-caste marriage and the wedding was quite trendy, where a wedding planner had made all the arrangements. The wedding was theme based and exclusive use of bright colors was made. It was amazing to witness a wedding that has all the fun elements, including various games, dancing and lots of lip-smacking food.

The Brahmin bride was looking very elegant in a designer lhenga and her groom wore designer suit too. To my surprise again, a big and beautiful wedding cake was ordered, which I saw first time in a Brahmin matrimony Presence of fresh flowers like roses, orchids, marigold and gerberas made the wedding experience unforgettable one for me!

Similarly, many people are following this increasing trend, as the wedding planners are there to make the wedding a hassle-free affair. Brahmin matrimonial is also not untouched with this trend, where the community is also flowing with these tides and is involved in the grandeur wedding celebrations.

The most famous trend these days among Brahmin is having a royal wedding, provided they are open to pay a hefty sum to the planners! Generally these types of weddings are performed in fresco havelis, magnificent palaces and heritage hotels. The beautiful Brahmin brides look beautiful in the royal attire. If you are a fun loving person, you can also plan beach weddings on the mesmerizing beaches of Goa and Kerala. Such places are heaven for the holidaying couples and families.

Gone are those days, when people used to select the Brahmin brides from any marriage bureaus. Now Brahmin matrimonial is mainly dependent on searching the brides personally, or through the reliable sources such as online portals.
