Some Essentials of a Christian Marriage

Christian wedding
A wedding is all about following religious beliefs. A Christian marriage is one of the most traditional versions of a wedding, which includes certain requirements to be met.
  • As a requirement of the religious belief, it is necessary that both bride and groom are baptized or else be baptized before conducting the wedding. This as a sign of acceptance of Christ in their lives.
  • Bride and groom need to attend the prenuptial lectures, meetings or talks, where the couple is taught the conditions of married life. The couple needs to understand the value of sacred bond joining both of them. These lectures suggest the enunciation of the rights and duties in the marriage institution.
  • If any of the spouses is non-Christian, then he/she needs to learn the basics of Christianity and beliefs of Christianity, along with the detailing of the wedding celebrations and married life.
Let me discuss the steps formalizing a Christian marriage, it’s just a brief!
  • The presence of the family members, close relatives and friends is must.
  • A processional is an important part of a Christian matrimonial, as it introduces the bride and the groom with the wedding ceremony and other rituals.
  • Following the processional, a prayer is performed by a priest.
  • Couple exchanges wedding vows.
  • Wedding is formalized with the exchange of the wedding rings.
  • The Unity Candle is lit by the couple together before their wedding ceremony has finished. This is a symbolic representation showing the unity of the couple as they start their journey together.
  • The wedding is formally concluded with a final prayer to bless the new couple.
However, these were the traditional ethos's which are being followed since ages, what I found the best about Christian weddings is that the families and couples involved in the wedding have the option to change the vows according to their preferences.
