Sumptuous Gujarati Cuisine for Gujarati Matrimony


The Indian culture has so many colours. I really love the way every state presents itself as a pioneer in culinary skills. Similar is the case with the Gujarati community, where you can find a number of food items, which are so healthy, while being spicy. This makes the Gujarati cuisine so unique from other culinary traditions of India.

Celebrations in Gujarati matrimony are simple affairs, and so is the food. The dishes are very traditional and customary. Gujarati community is one of the communities where almost all are vegetarians; however, vegetarianism has its roots in religious ideologies and beliefs of the community.

If you taste the Gujarati cuisine, you will find that how simple it is and has such an awesome blend of exquisite flavours and textures. A typical Gujarati Thali in the Gujarati matrimony contains Rotli, Daal, Bhaat, Shaak, chatni, pickles, papad, curd, farsans, sweet meats, etc. The dishes in a gujarati thali does not end here, there are a number of other dishes also, whose names are also unknown to other communities.

Some of the interesting and savoury dishes that are served in the weddings are Dhokla, Khandvi, Patra, Ondhiyu, etc.  I have not seen such tasty use of vegetables and lentils. These are used to prepare a varied number of snacks, sweet meats, etc., which can be accompanied with butter milk, yogurts and nuts, and give an amazing delicacy.

Khaman Dhokla, Doodhpak, and Shrikhand are some of the other delicious delights that people from all over India love. The variety of food is amazing while being healthy. Gujaratis are very fond of food, and make generous use of salt, sugar and chilies in their recipes.

The food arrangement in a wedding completely depends on the place the family belongs to, like South Gujarat, North Gujarat, Kathiawad or Kachchh. Every place has its own specialty and that reflects in the Gujarat matrimony celebrations.
